The 5th TV Drama Writers Conference of Asia, hosted by Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE, Chairperson Young-hoon Kim), took place at Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul from September 8 to 11.
The theme for this year’s conference was advancement and expansion of Asian TV dramas. The Conference looked at popular TV series from across Asia to study the trend, plans and the production of dramas and to search for future directions and cooperative means.
The event was attended by 30 top Korean drama writers, including Jung-soo Kim of “Dandelion Family” and “My Mother’s Sea,” Eun-jung Kang of “Brilliant Legacy” and “Lovers in Paris” and Ki-won Lee of “White Tower.” 20 writers from 7 Asian nations also attended the event, including Japan’s Masaya Ozaki who wrote hit dramas “The Man Who Can’t Get Married” and “White Spring” and China’s Wang Wanping, the writer of “Tian Mimi,” last year’s biggest hit drama in China, and the national screen playwright Liping Wang. Furthermore, Japan’s top lyricist Yasushi Akimoto, the writer of “One Missed Call” series, attended the Conference as the chairperson of Japan Broadcast Writers Association. |
