Hee-yeol : Can you go around and introduce yourself?

Onew : Sure. Hi. I’m Onew, leader of Shinee.

Taemin : Hi. I’m Taemin, the youngin.

Jonghyun : Hey, I’m Shinee’s Jonghyun.

Minho : Hi everyone. I’m Shinee’s Minho.

Key : Hey. I’m Shinee’s Key. Nice to see you.

Hee-yeol : Taemin looks like a troublemaker with his hat on like that.

Hee-yeol :  How cute.

Taemin : Thank you.

Hee-yeol : You outfits seem a bit tight today, don’t you think?

Onew’s pants seem especially tight from the back.

Onew : My pants? I guess so.

Hee-yeol : It looks good.  You may not know this, but Shinee and I are actually quite close.

Jonghyun : Yes, we definitely are.

Hee-yeol : We’ve lived in the same apartment for a long time.

Key : Yes.

Hee-yeol : Who’s cool now?

Key : Just to clarify, it was the same complex, not room.

Hee-yeol : I used to run into them a lot on my way to my morning workout.

Onew : Morning workout, huh?

Hee-yeo : Yes, workout…

Jonghyun : Are you sure?

Minho : Morning workout?

Minho : When we saw you,

you were in workout clothes, but had something in your hand.

We thought you were going to the sauna since you were carrying

shampoo and shower gel.

?? : In a plastic basket.

Hee-yeol : Yes, I was carrying the plastic bath basket containing shampoo, conditioner,

shower gel, and other toiletries. Anyways, I invited you guys over to my place several times, but you never came.

Jonghyun : Actually, we wanted to come over.

Hee-yeol : You did?

Jonghyun : Yes, we talked about it,

but it never worked out due to our late night schedules.

We couldn’t come over at midnight.

Hee-yeol : I waited for you guys to come.

I wanted to play games with you,

and have a heart-to-heart while munching on junk food.

But you didn’t show up.

?? :  It was 2 in the morning.

Hee-yeol : That’s OK.

Hee-yeol : It’s too bad you guys moved away.

Well, it’s good to have you on the show.

Let’s get the interview started.

So, who gave you the name, Shinee?

Jonghyun : Our boss, Lee Soo-man, gave us the name.

Hee-yeol : How did he come up with it?

Jonghyun : Key, can you explain it?

Key : You know the spelling of the words “employer” and “employee”?

?? : Look at his expression.

Key : If you take out the “er” from “employer”, and add replace it with an “ee”,

the employer becomes an employee.

So our boss replaced the “y” in “shiny” with an “ee”, to say that we should be those who receive light,

rather than being the light.

Hee-yeol : I have no idea what you’re saying. It sounds deep.

Minho : Simply put, be those who have light.

Hee-yeol : People who receive light rather than giving light.

Jonghyun : That’s right.

Minho : Give light and receive it back.

Hee-yoel : It’s got a philosophical meaning.

Jonghyun : Yes, it does.

Hee-yeol : Did you have a different name before you got the name Shinee?

A nickname, perhaps?

Jonghyun : We had a lot. Since there are 5 of us, we used to be called SM5, SM being our agency name.

It wasn’t our group name, but we went by that a lot.

Hee-yeol : It could’ve been SM7 if it was 7 of you.

All right.

This is something I was curious about.

I noticed that your recent song begins with “Shinee’s back”.

Jonghyun : Yes.

Hee-yeol : When did you start saying that?

Minho : Since “Sherlock”.

We’ve been using that phrase on most of our title tracks

before the actual song starts.

Hee-yeol : Why do you say it?

Minho :It’s just a way of emphasizing our comeback.

Hee-yeol : I see.

Minho : It was just a simple declaration.

There’s no deep meaning.

Hee-yeol : Who’s voice is it?

Minho : It’s my voice.

Hee-yeol : I know it’s a bit embarrassing, but can you do it once for us?

Minho : It’s quite embarrassing without background music.

Hee-yeol : Let’s give him a round of applause.

Minho : Shinee is back, back, back. Go!

There.

How embarrassing!

It sounds so silly without any background music,

especially the “back, back” part.

Taemin : Onew did the voice for it, too.

Hee-yeol : He did?

Onew : I had done the voice for it, too, but they didn’t like mine.

Hee-yeol : Let’s hear it. I’ll determine that.

Onew : Shinee is back…  Is it funny?

So that’s why they didn’t like it.

It’s funny.

Jonghyun : Say the whole phrase.

Onew : Shinee is back, back, back. Go!

Hee-yeol : You sound just as good.

?? :  Yes.

Hee-yeol : But it’s all up to your agency.

It seemed like just yesterday when Shinee sang the song

“Noona You’re So Pretty”.

Jonghyun : Yes. It’s almost been 6 years.

Coming this May, it’ll be 6 years.

Hee-yeol : Taemin has grown so much since then. When did you debut?

Taemin : When I was 16, and in middle school.

Hee-yeol :  And now you’re…

Taemin :  I’m 21.

Hee-yeol : Then the members must’ve seen the whole growth process.

Taemin : And I saw them age.

?? : We’re not old yet.

Hee-yeol : When did you go through puberty?

Taemin : Puberty came at an early age for me, and didn’t last too long.

Hee-yeol : You’re look built.

Jonghyun : Yes. He developed a muscular body after turning 20.

Hee-yeol : You must work out.

Key : It’s 2nd puberty.

Hee-yeol : - 2nd puberty?

Key : He got broad shoulders,

Key : and his Adam’s apple increased. We saw it all happen.

Hee-yeol : I think my Adam’s apple increased too much.

Hee-yeol :  For me…

Onew :  The same goes for me.

Hee-yeo : You, too?

Jonghyun :  That’s serious.

Hee-yeol :  It sure is.

Hee-yeol : Taemin. Boys are quite vigorous at the age of 21.

Who gives you a lot of relationship or girl advice?

Taemin : My agent gives me a lot of advice.

Hee-yeol : I see.

You don’t get any advice  from your fellow members?

Taemin : They don’t seem to know a lot.

Hee-yeol : All right. Come over to my place sometime.

Taemin :  OK.

Hee-yeol :  I know a lot.

Hee-yeol :  We’ll have a good time.

Jonghyun :  Can we come?

Hee-yeol : Of course.

Do you guys ever plan on releasing solo albums?

Jonghyun : We’ve actually talked about doing that before,

but we figured that it’s best to save it for later,

and display our individual talents when we’re given opportunities on programs or events.

Hee-yeol : Then I have a favor.

You guys do small solo performances at your concerts, right?

I’d like to have Key represent the group and have him sing.

Have a song in mind?

Key : There’s this old song I heard recently.

It’s about a 60-year-old couple.

I’ve been trying to listen to more oldies lately.

I happen to come across this one  and really liked it.

Hee-yeol : I’m very anxious to hear this song.
