Returning with a new album, 2NE1 (Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL, Gong Minji) has swept the music charts. 2NE1 released the tracks of their second official album “CRUSH” through online music websites at 0 hour on February 27, and only eight hours later, the title track “Come Back Home” had topped nine music charts—Melon, Mnet, Olleh Music, Bugs, Genie, Naver Music, Daum Music, Soribada, and Cyworld Music. Their other title track “Gotta Be You” also topped Monkey 3’s real-time chart; and thus 2NE1 dominated all ten major music sites.
The two title tracks “Come Back Home” and “Gotta Be You” are very different in style. A crossover of R&B, reggae, and hip hop, “Come Back Home” is a dance number co-produced by YG Entertainment’s house producers, including the main name Teddy. Contrary to the dance beat, the lyrics are more emotional, conveying a deep longing for a past lover. “Gotta Be You” follows a much lighter melody and brings out 2NE1’s unique vocals. It has a strong, catchy beat and an old school melody.
2NE1 showed their dominating presence when their two title tracks, “Crush,” “If I Were You,” “Good to You,” “MTBD,” and “Happy” lined up at the top end of Melon, Bugs, Soribada, Olleh Music and other music charts.
2NE1 will embark on their second world tour next month and meet up with their fans in nine countries. The tour kicks off at SK Handball Gymnasium, Olympic Park, in Seoul on March 1 and 2. The offline album sales begin on March 7, and four music videos will be released.
