World star Jackie Chan holds a special press conference in Seoul
Delivering the Asian version of “We are the World” as the Honorary Chairperson of the 2010 Asia Song Festival Committee
○ The 2010 Asia Song Festival joins hands with UNIEF becoming a major charity music festival in Asia. All proceeds of the festival will help aid children affected by floods in Pakistan
○ World star Jackie Chan was elected as the Honorary Chairperson of the Asia Song Festival Committee for the success of the festival and to promote donation culture in Asia.
○ Hallyu star Min-ho Lee from “Boys over Flowers” will attend the event as UNICEF Ambassador to share hopes through the music of Asia.
○ The special press conference will declare itself as the Asian version of “We are the World.”
Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE, Chairperson Young-hoon Kim), Seoul City (Mayor Sae-hoon Oh) and UNICEF Korea (Executive Director Dong-eun Park), the co-hosts of the 2010 Asia Song Festival, elected Asia’s world star Jackie Chan as the Honorary Chairperson of this year’s festival committee. They will announce the objectives of this year’s festival and the 1st artist line-up in a special press conference at Grand Hyatt Hotel Regency Room on Monday August 23 at 11am.
▶ World star Jackie Chan wishes to spread the spirit of loving and sharing in Korea
Much-loved Asia’s world star Jackie Chan established The Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation and remains actively involved in various charity activities, such as the Jackie Chan’s Good Friends Concert he organized to help the victims of Sichuan earthquake. As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Jackie Chan also visits the regions that are facing difficulties and shares the spirit of loving and sharing. He has a close relationship with Korea and last year, he visited Tongyoung in Gyeongnam despite his tight schedule and spread the message of hope to children.
KOFICE and Seoul City elected Jackie Chan as the Honorary Chairperson in response to this year’s festival objective to become an international charity concert. The concert aims to deliver a special message that “Asia is one” with love.
▶ UNICEF Korea Ambassador Min-ho Lee to attend the press conference
Young Hallyu star Min-ho Lee, who climbed to fame through the drama “Boys over Flowers,” will attend the press conference as a UNICEF Ambassador. He will take part in this meaningful event that advocates the “spirit of sharing hopes” through Asian pop music. After “Boys over Flowers,” Min-ho Lee returned with the drama “Personal Taste” with top star Yae-jin Son and proved that he has become a more mature actor from the initial good-looking Hallyu star.
“I want to tell the 4 billion Asian music fans to be a united Asia through Asia’s largest music festival and participate in the culture of sharing,” Min-ho Lee said.
Asia Song Festival, which is on its 7th year, is the official cultural festival celebrating the first G20 Summit that Seoul will host this year. The festival will be co-hosted by UNICEF and it was planned from the beginning as an exclusive international charity music festival in Asia. Top artists from Asia and 4 billion Asian music fans will share melodies of hope to help neglected children who are suffering from climatic changes, natural disasters and economic crisis around the world. Through this, the festival is expected to grow into the Asian version of “We are the World.”
