Title Sunmi, KARD, Snuper, Imfact, Feel Korea to Heat up Moscow
No 137 Inquiry 1086 Date 2018/06/05

□ 2018 Feel Korea in Moscow will be held at Megasport Arena in Moscow, Russia, on June 7–8, cohosted
by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE; President Kim
Yongrak) and the Korean Cultural Center in Russia, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports
and Tourism.

□ Feel Korea, which has been held since 2013, introduces K-pop and other genres of Korean culture
throughout the world and presents joint performances of K-pop artists together with local performers
and the fan community, promoting two-way cultural exchange. The global Korean culture festival was
first held in Brazil, then in Canada, Australia, India, Kazakhstan, Laos, and Britain. Now it is a Hallyu
event that fans look forward to seeing in their own countries.

□ This year’s Feel Korea goes to Russia shortly before the country hosts the FIFA World Cup,
attracting eyes of the world. The Hallyu event at Megasport Arena, the large indoor stadium in the
center of Moscow, will be of an unprecedentedly large scale. After a pre-event site survey, a line-up of
participating artists—Sunmi, KARD, Snuper and Imfact—was announced to the great attention of
fans in Russia as well as Central Asian and European countries. When ticket sales began in May, the
Internet server went down under too many people vying to buy tickets. Tickets for over 8,000 seats
were sold out in 10 record-setting minutes.

□ The Feel Korea concert will start at 8 p.m. Moscow Standard Time on June 8. Sunmi, one of Kpop’s
divas; KARD, the co-ed band that became a worldwide sensation even before its official debut;
and Imfact, the group with unrivalled charisma, will sing their hit songs, sometimes sharing the stage
with Russian performers and the fan community, presenting a true collaboration between artists and
audience. Reflecting the high popularity of dance covers in Russia, the first section of the concert will
be set aside for the “K-pop Cover Dance Festival,” sponsored by the Seoul Shinmun, where fans
become the main actors of the event. There will be auxiliary programs that will show the dynamics of
Korean culture to the Russians: booths will be set up for of K-pop multimedia experience and the
Korean national Taekwondowon Demonstration Team will give special performances.

□ In addition, the Hallyu artists will share their hearts with local fans and the minority groups through
special programs. On the eve of the concert, Snuper, who is taking part in Feel Korea for the second
consecutive year owing to their popularity in Britain, will hold a Korean Singing Class for children of
Koryoin, the ethnic Koreans in the post-Soviet states, and other minorities. During the class, the
Korean-language lyrics and their meanings will be explained through games. The class is expected to
kindle interest in the Korean language especially among the Koryoin children who have Korean roots
but have had little access to Korean culture.

□ Imfact, the boy band making inroads into Russia via Feel Korea, will also offer free dance lessons
to Russian fans on June 7, teaching the dances choreographed for their new song, “The Light.” The
band will also have a question-and-answer session and a photo time with fans in efforts to appease the
fans’ thirst for Hallyu and to practice the goal of Feel Korea, which is not just advancing into the
global market, but rather promoting communication and understanding through culture.

□ KOFICE President Kim Yongrak said, “Feel Korea has now become a representative brand of
cultural exchange that connects Korea and the world. In the years ahead, Feel Korea will not only go
to Africa and Middle East, where Hallyu markets are still underdeveloped, but will bring special
programs to ASEAN countries where there are mature Hallyu markets. Feel Korea will be developed
further as a project promoting foreigners’ interest in Korean culture and as a leader of mutual
cooperation and prosperity between Korea and other countries.
