Korea's Next Diva, Lee Hi

Her appearance is comparable to that of a supernova. Of course, she made her name known at a survival audition program, but her debut, and the result of her debut. . .who would ever guessed that a 16-year-old girl could exude that kind of energy? Meet Lee Hi, the hottest rookie singer of 2012.

She was a runner-up at an audition program, but even then, we just thought that she was one of the countless talented young teens of Korea. We also thought that she'd become something, given a few years of training. What an understatement! Only six months after the talent search program, Lee Hi stood on her debut stage and shocked the music industry.

Lee Hi was probably the most successful of the rookies who debuted in the latter half of the year. She showed her potential for success in Epik High's "Cold" where she was featured. The potential materialized into achievement with her debut song "1, 2, 3, 4." Upon release, the song swept through all music charts in Korea and also topped the Billboard K-pop Charts. Her debut stage on "Mnet Countdown" also gave her the number one trophy. She got two more of the same trophy, becoming the first rookie to get the triple crown.

It's almost hard to believe that she is only 16 years old. Her music and her performance have her fans going crazy over her.

The Korean music industry has been thirsty for a big female solo act. Lee Hi burst through the scene in 2012 and quenched that thirst. One day, not too far in the future, we will see her at the center of the K-pop fever that's been sweeping across the globe.
