“The Berlin File” topped the box office charts on the first weekend of its release.
According to statistics by the Korea Film Council on February 4, “The Berlin File” (director Ryu Seung-wan) drew in more than 1.53 million moviegoers from February 1–3 over the weekend. As of February 3, it recorded more than 2.24 million admissions.
Released on January 30, “The Berlin File” had a good start with 270,000 admissions despite its weekday release. On its first Saturday, it attracted 630,000 moviegoers. This is a record among the movies released this year.
Recording 1 million within 3 days and 2 million within 5 days of its release, “The Berlin File” enjoyed a great first week. Its second week looks just as promising. As of February 4, 6:00 PM, it has grabbed 42.7% of total reservations and is outrunning “Miracle in Cell No. 7”.
The second week encompasses the lunar New Year’s Day. Eyes are on “The Berlin File” to see how it will fare during the holidays.
“The Berlin File” is an action movie about secret agents who become involved in conspiracies in Berlin. It stars Ha Jeong-woo, Han Seok-gyu, Ryu Seung-beom, and Jeon Ji-hyeon.
