One of the most popular American television series, ‘Suits’ gets a Korean remake, which will be the first version made outside USA. On the 25th, EnterMedia Pictures, the production company of Suits in Korea announced that they signed a contract with a scriptwriter and they are finally in production now. The script of the Korean remake will be written by Sang-Hee Park whose recent E Channel television series ‘Riders: Catch Tomorrow’ where Cheong-Ah Lee, Dong-Wook Kim, and Yeo-Jin Kim starred in received good reviews. Sang-Hee Park worked on numerous television series including SBS ‘Daepungsu’ and ‘Invincible Parachute Agent’ and spoke of her ambition that “she will remain faithful 100% to the original show.”
Set in one of the best law firms in New York City, the American television series ‘Suits’ is a stylish bromantic drama that focuses on the growth of one of the best lawyers, Harvey Specter and Mike Ross who has an eidetic memory. With its interesting and engaging story, Suits continued on with Season 6 so far.
Korean audiences are familiar with this show as an actor ‘Gabrel Macht’ plays a role of the protagonist ‘Harvey’ in it. It will be interesting to see how the Korean remake depicts the story of these two stylish lawyers in suits. Besides, the fans are very excited about guessing who will be the perfect fits for the roles of the protagonists ‘Harvey’ and ‘Mike.’ Unlike the legal dramas such as the popular show currently on air ‘Remember: Son’s War’ and Korean remake of ‘The Good Wife’ in which Do-yeon Jeon got the offer to play the role, the Korean version of ‘Suits’ will deal with something unique, for example, bromance between lawyers and stories of a fake lawyer and became one of the most anticipated television series of this year.
The Korean remake of ‘Suits’ is currently in production and is planning to be aired in the second half of this year or in the early 2017. The right holder and production company of Suits is EnterMedia Pictures that has been producing numerous shows such as a web series ‘Drama World’ and American remakes of ‘Man from the Stars’ and ‘Good Doctor,’ and working on the American adaptation of the Korean novel ‘The Ultimate Child.’
