”Miracle in Cell No. 7” surpassed “Taegukgi” in taking the fifth place in all-time rankings of Korean movies. According to the Korea Film Council, “Miracle in Cell No. 7” (director Lee Hwan-kyeong) recorded 49,614 admissions on March 4 and came second in the daily box office chart. As of then, it has a total of 11,754,228 admissions.
Released on January 23, “Miracle in Cell No. 7” stayed at top end of the box office chart despite the releases of “The Berlin File” and “New World.” It marked 10 million admissions on February 23, and surpassed the 11.74 million admissions recorded by “Taegukgi”, thus coming in fifth place among all Korean movies. There are now only four movies ahead of “Miracle in Cell No. 7”: “King and the Clown” (12.3 million admissions), “Masquerade” (12.31 million admissions), “The Host” (13.01 million admissions), and “Thieves” (13.02 million admissions).
