“Pieta”, the winner of the Golden Lion at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, directed by Kim Ki-duk, will be shown in theaters in the USA starting May 17. According to its North American distributor Drafthouse Films, “Pieta” will be released in Denver, Kansas, Austin, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, Chicago, and New York between May 17 and May 23. It will be released in San Antonio on May 19, Miami on May 23, Winchester on May 24, and Dallas and Portland on May 31. 

Starring Lee Jeong-jin and Cho Min-su, “Pieta” can also be downloaded from iTunes starting May 12. Kim Ki-duk’s previous work “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter…and Spring” debuted in North America on April 2, 2004, and grossed USD 2.38 million. His “3-Iron” starring Lee Seung-yeon and Jae Hee was released on April 29, 2005, and grossed USD 240,000.
