“Sea Fog” has received 19 rating. Korea Media Rating Board explained on July 10 that “Sea Fog” contains violent scenes that are explicit and frequent and are harmful for teenagers. The board concluded that teenagers must not be permitted to watch the movie and gave it a 19 rating. It is a bleak call for “Sea Fog.” The decision comes after the production made an appeal for the 19 rating it received in the first round of assessment.
While “Sea Fog” stands before a red light, its rivals “Kundo: Age of the Rampant” (July 23) and “Roaring Currents” (July 30) received a 15 rating. Moreover, its closest rival “Pirates” received a 12 rating. “Pirates” is set for release on August 6, only a few days before “Sea Fog,” an adaptation of a play of the same name. “Sea Fog” tells the story of a fishing vessel that gets caught in a whirlpool of events as it transports illegal immigrants. It comes to theaters on August 13.
