Four Brilliant Child-Actors of “Night Watchman’s Journal”

The second episode of “Night Watchman’s Journal” that aired on the 5th showed Lee Rin (Kim Hwi-soo) getting hurt by Hae-jong (Choi Won-young) who became maniacal after going up Mt. Baekdu. Adding to the suspense was Prince Gisan’s (Lee Tae-woo) jealousy for Lee Rin. Do-ha (Lee Chae-mee) and Su-ryeon (Kang Joo-eun) also appeared in the story, hinting at their special relationships with Lee Rin. Do-ha, in particular, is fated to meet Lee Rin. Her older sister Yeon-ha tells her, “You will protect him and achieve big things with him. That was our mother’s prophecy when you were born.” Su-ryeon, already acquainted with Lee Rin, shows extreme affection for him from childhood. She nurses him when he is ill and confesses her love for him to her father Park Su-jong (Lee Jae-yong).
The second episode of the drama introduced the main figures who are tied to each other through Prince Lee Rin. The adult actors will take over from the third episode with Jeong Il-woo as Lee Rin, Go Seong-hee as Do-ha, Seo Ye-ji as Su-ryeon, Kim Heung-soo as Prince Gisan, and Jeong Yun-ho as the new character Museok. Viewers are curious to see how the story will unfold from there.
What is notable is that the four young actors have portrayed their characters so well that the viewers already have a solid understanding of the story and the characters even though the adult actors have not appeared on the screen yet.
“Night Watchman’s Journal” is already causing a sensation, topping the viewers rating chart for both episodes and selling out all the slots for commercials. According to TNmS, the second episode of “Night Watchman’s Journal” recorded 14.3% in Seoul and 11.5% nationwide. Nielsen Korea put forth similar figures: 11.7% in Seoul and 10.8% nationwide. Furthermore, the commercial slots were sold out for both the first and second episodes. In short, “Night Watchman’s Journal” is dominating the Monday-and-Tuesday drama time.
Set in the Joseon Dynasty, “Night Watchman’s Journal” is a fantasy period drama about three clashing powers of people who reject ghosts, people who use ghosts, and people who fight ghosts.
