Happy Ending for Park Shin-hye and Lee Min-ho of “The Inheritors”

The final episode of SBS drama “The Inheritors” (writer Kim Eun-sook, director Gang Shin-hyo) that aired on December 12 showed Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye) and Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) dreaming of a happy future together.
In Episode 19, Kim Tan appears at this birthday party with Cha Eun-sang and reveals their relationship to the public. Afterwards, Kim Tan and Eun-sang visit Kim Nam-yun (Jeong Dong-hwan) who is recovering from his illness. “I want to win your favor. I will repay the past debt,” Eun-sang tells Kim Nam-yun. Although Nam-yun disapproved of their relationship, he answers, “You don’t need to earn my favor. I will have to live long to receive all that you owe me.” He indirectly gives his approval of Eun-sang.

In the last scene, the two are seen walking hand-in-hand down a crowded street. “We might fall down again and we might fall on our knees again. But despite it all, we will go our way.” Their final narration hinted at a happy future.
Kim Tan and Kim Won succeed in protecting their company by preventing the dismissal of their father from the CEO position. After the executive’s meeting, their mother and the director of Jeguk High School, Jeong Ji-suk (Park Jun-geum), who betrayed her husband, warns the two brothers not to be relieved yet. “The war has just begun,” she tells them, forecasting the conflicts that will ensue in the Jeguk group.

Unlike Kim Tan, Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyeok) cuts short his love with Jeon Hyun-joo (Lim Joo-eun), a regular high school teacher. He chooses to marry BS Telecom’s granddaughter Yang Da-gyeong (Wang Ji-won) to protect his company. When Jeon Hyun-joo finds out about their engagement, she meets up with Kim Won for the last time and tells him, “Don’t be sorry.” The two end their relationship and part.

Eun-sang’s sister Cha Eun-seok (Yun Jin-seo) also gets in touch with her family again. Still in the USA, Eun-seok is trying to break away from her dilettante lifestyle and start again. She gets a new job and buys herself a new phone.
“The Inheritors” had the viewers hooked to the romantic story of high school students who belong to the top 1% of Korea’s upper class. The cast of top leading and supporting actors, their solid teamwork, and the story-packed episodes resonated with the viewers and enjoyed the highest viewership among the three dramas that aired at the same time.
