MBC “Infinite Challenge” was selected as Koreans’ favorite TV show for nine consecutive months. According to Gallup Korea’s survey taken from November 18 to 21, 10.3% of the 1124 men and women over the age of 19 who participated in the survey chose “Infinite Challenge” as their favorite TV show (two choices possible). “Infinite Challenge” is taking this title for the tenth time this year, having defended its place for nine consecutive months from March to September. The “Infinite Challenge Music Festival” held in October hiked up the interest to the highest ever this year, but its popularity fell among viewers in their 20s and 30s in November.
Second among all TV shows and first among TV dramas is MBC daily series “Princess Aurora.” Its popularity increased by 2.7% from the previous month and jumped up six places in the ranking. Despite the unending accusations that the drama is outrageous, with its writer Lim Seong-han at the center of some heated controversy caused by sudden disappearances of actors, offensive language in subtitles, and queer dialogues, the unpredictable plot and unique scenario have the women hooked, especially those in their 60s or above (17%) and housewives (13%).
Third place goes to tvN “Answer Me 1994” (5.7%). Popular among women in their 20s and 30s and white collar workers, the drama entered the top end of the chart only a month after it began airing. It has the best record among the non-terrestrial broadcast shows of this year. Fourth and fifth places went to “Dad! Where Are We Going?” (4.7%) and “Real Men” (4.6%), the two segments of MBC “Sunday Night.” Behind them were KBS 2TV drama “King’s Family” (4.5%) and SBS drama “The Inheritors” (4.0%). Both dramas saw an increase in their popularity compared with the previous month.
