Actress Song Hye-gyo and Sungshin Women’s University professor and Korean PR specialist Seo Gyeong-deok donated Korean pamphlets to Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall in Harbin, China.
“In memory of Ahn Jung-geun who died on October 26, Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall will give out 10,000 newly designed Korean pamphlets to the visitors free of charge,” said Professor Seo who organized the event. The Korean pamphlet describes in detail the biography and activities of Ahn Jung-geun, messages sent by Chinese leaders, and colored photographs of Ahn’s prosecution and actions. Information and material were provided by the Independence Hall of Korea.
Song Hye-gyo sponsored this event and said, “Although it is a historic site located in China, Korean visitors would want to read pamphlets written in Korean. I hope that this small contribution will help bring tourists to the memorial hall.” Professor Seo and Song Hye-gyo also donated a large artwork to Yi Jun Peace Museum in Den Haag, Netherlands, in commemoration of Liberation Day in August. Their contribution helped bring many European backpackers to the museum.
“After first donating Korean pamphlets, we developed a free-of-charge application related to the provisional government of Korea in Shanghai and Beijing and started providing the service since October. We will add the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall to the application and even provide voice service for the visually impaired soon,” explained Seo Gyeong-deok.
Song Hye-gyo and Seo Gyeong-deok have sponsored Korean language services at various prestigious museums and galleries, including the Museum of Modern Arts in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. They are now working hard to provide a similar service at European counterparts, including Tate Modern in London and Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands.
