“Dad! Where Are We Going?” Chinese Version, a Hit After One Episode

The Chinese edition of MBC’s “Dad! Where Are We Going?” is enjoying immense popularity after just one episode.
The Chinese edition of the reality entertainment show aired for the first time on Hunan TV on October 11. Hunan TV began preparing for the show in May after they bought the format from MBC in April. The first episode recorded a viewer rating of 1.46%, the highest among the programs that aired at the same time. This is a notable achievement, especially considering that Hunan TV’s most famous audition program, “Happy Boy,” which used to air in the same time slot, received 1.4% in the previous week.
“Chinese people are showing an increasing interest in anything that has to do with children because of the country’s one-child policy. This is why ‘Dad! Where Are We Going?’ is doing well in China,” explained a source linked to MBC. “They can watch cute children and also see how the celebrities raise their kids.”
The Chinese edition of “Dad! Where Are We Going?” will be produced in twelve parts. It stars Taiwanese top actor Jimmy Lin and his son, famous director Wang Yue Lun and his daughter, diver-turned-actor Tian Liang and his daughter, model Zhang Liang and his son, and actor Guo Tao and his son. Following this show will be the second season of the Chinese edition of “I Am a Singer,” which is also exported by MBC.
