The 10-part "Drama Festival" is slated to begin on October 2. The first two episodes will air on October 2 and 3, and then each week will bring a new episode. The drama ranges from modern to historical, with competitive young directors and new and established playwrights working on the project. The result is an ensemble of radical and experimental dramas, which are waiting to become hot issues in the second half of 2013.
The ten episodes of "Drama Festival" were filmed with UHD (Ultra High Definition) cinema cameras that can create pictures that are four times more vivid than full HD images. Currently, the dramas are being filmed with premium lenses. For the first time in Korean drama history, the drama will be made with a complete UHD system from the beginning to end.
"Drama Festival" kicks off with "Fantastic Funeral of Sunshine Senior Center" starring "flower grandfather" Baek Il-seob and veteran stage actor Lee Ho-jae.
The first episode is created by director Lee Seong-jun, accredited with "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," and rookie writer Noh Hye-yun. It tells the story of elderly people who hold a fake funeral for their friend's surgery. Baek Il-seob and Lee Ho-jae are supported by a star team of Park Hyuk-gwon, Ahn Hae-suk and Oh Na-ra. The second episode is a historical piece (writer Jeong Hae-ri and Moon Su-jeong / director Jeong Dae-yun) starring Kang Ha-neul, Yang Jin-woo, and Sohn Byeong-ho with a special appearance by Jin Tae-hyun and Seo Hyun-jin. The third episode is a love story starring Choi Jeong-yun and Kim Tae-hun and created by Lee Ji-yeong (writer) and Jeong Ji-in (director).
