EXO’s 2nd Album 90th on Billboard…Highest Weekly Sales for K-pop Album

EXO’s second official album ranks 90th on Billboard.
Group EXO’s second official album “Exodus” ranked 90th on the US Billboard Chart. Billboard published on the 8th (local time) that “Exodus” sold 6,000 copies in the first week and ranked 70th in the album sales chart issued on the 18th and 90th in the Album 200 Chart that sums up album sales, digital downloads, and streaming.

Prior to “Exodus,” 2NE1’s “Crush” was the highest-ranking K-pop album in the Album 200 Chart, coming in at number 61 in March last year. EXO may be ranked lower than 2NE1, but they are far ahead in album sales. According to Billboard, “Exodus” has surpassed the weekly album sales record set by “Crush” (5,000 copies).

EXO has also broken their own record set by the Korean unit EXO-K who ranked the highest (129th) among K-pop male groups with their mini-album “Overdose.” EXO ranked first in the World Album Chart again after their first album “XOXO” did the same, and ranked second in the World Digital Song Chart with “Call Me Baby.”

K-pop names started appearing in the Billboard Chart after BoA entered the Billboard 200 Chart with her album “BoA” at number 127 in 2009. Then Girls’ Generation unit TeTiSeo ranked 126th with “Twinkle,” BIGBANG’s “Alive” ranked 150th, BIGBANG’s Taeyang ranked 112th with “Rise,” and Girls’ Generation ranked 110th with “Mr. Mr.” G Dragon appeared twice in the chart with “One of a Kind” at number 161 and “Coup d’Etat” at number 182.
