With her U.S. debut coming up, CL of 2NE1 revealed her hanbok photoshoot.
“I think there is less awareness of Korean culture compared with Japanese or Chinese culture. I really wanted to leave a cool hanbok photoshoot ahead of my U.S. debut,” she explained when asked why she suggested hanbok for the shoot.
Instead of going “fusion,” CL went for as traditional a style as possible. “No doubt I will look different from the more elegant actresses dressed in hanbok, but that’s why I wanted to try a traditional look instead of a customized style.” She added that she would be happy if her photoshoot could help broaden people’s perspectives on hanbok. She also talked about her upcoming U.S. debut.
“It was a good proposal, and I accepted it because it would be a new challenge for me,” she said. “Honestly, at first, I thought it would just be fun. Then I realized how big this actually was as I got ready. It’s like jumping into a market I’ve never experienced before.”
