“Original Hallyu Star” Ahn Jae-wook Hosts 20th Debut Anniversary Concert

Ahn Jae-wook has ended his 20th debut anniversary concert in success. His agency EA&C announced on the 7th, “The Ahn Jae Wook 20th Anniversary-One Fine Day concert held on the 4th to celebrate Ahn Jae-wook’s 20th anniversary since his debut was a success.”

Ahn celebrated his 20th anniversary with his fans from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore at Blue Square Samsung Card Hall, Hannam-dong. It has been 8 years since his last solo concert in Korea in June 2006, and he filled the two hours with 25 songs of various genres, including ballad, dance, and musical scores.

Ahn appeared on the stage singing “Forever” from the drama “Star in My Heart” and continued with “In Cold War,” “Pain,” “Monologue,” “Fate,” “Wind” and other songs from his albums and sound tracks of the dramas he appeared in. He was backed up by a 12-member orchestra and the screening of a retrospective video of his past 20 years.

“It’s my first concert in Korea in a very long time. I am so happy to be meeting you all again like this. Thank you for coming to the concert just to see one person even though it’s the long weekend. I’ve had many good memories for 20 years since my debut in 1994. I think I was able to come this far because of your consistent love and support. Thank you so much,” said Ahn.

He continued, “To be honest, I was hesitant about holding an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary. My 21st anniversary, 22nd anniversary will continue hereafter, so I was hesitant about making a big deal out of the 20th anniversary. I would like everyone here today to just enjoy the party than to commemorate the 20th anniversary. Are you ready to go down the memory lane?”

When the final song “Friend” ended, everyone in the audience stood up and cried for an encore. Ahn Jae-wook returned to the stage and sang “Forever” once again and closed his 20th anniversary concert.

Ahn Jae-wook will return to the stage with the musical “Rudolph” that opens on the coming 11th at D-Cube Art Center, and is set to release a new album soon.
