Nine-member girl group Girls’ Generation (Tae-yeon, Yu-ri, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, Hyo-yeon, Su-yeong, Yuna, and Seo-hyeon) recently released their fourth official album. The music video for the title track “I Got a Boy” was uploaded on YouTube, and it got 20 million views in the shortest time for a Korean music video. It was released on SM Town’s official YouTube channel on January 1, and as of January 7, 2:30 PM, it has been viewed more than 21 million times.

The music video was unveiled along with the song on January 1 at 5 PM. Within 55 hours of its release, the music video received 10 million views. Six days later, it surpassed 20 million views. No other Korean music videos have received 10 million views and 20 million views as quickly. Domestic and foreign fans are eager to see the dramatic changes that Girls Generation underwent for their latest music video. Before Girls Generation, 4Minute’s Hyun-ah possessed the record for Korean music videos. Her solo single “Ice Cream” received 10 million views in 5 days and 20 million view in 11 days last year.

YouTube’s record holder with more than 1.1 billion views and a global phenomenon, Psy’s “Gangnam Style” received 10 million views 19 days after its release on July 15 and 20 million views 26 days after its release. But “Gangnam Style” got more revved up with time and exceeded one hundred million views 52 days after its release (September 4, 2012). After that, it took only between 10 to 13 days to add one million views. Then on 161st day since its release, “Gangnam Style” finally achieved 1 billion views. Up to that point, it received 6.5 million views per day on average and 76.4 views per second.
