Google Korea released the 2012 Google Trend Search that summarizes the search trends of 2012 on December 15. The Google Trend Search was released for the first time this year and it doesn't simply compare the total Web searches, but also shows which terms maintained a high search rate over time. The overall result gives a more dimensional reflection of the social, economic, and cultural trends of the year than simple rankings of search words.
The number one search term of 2012 was "Gangnam Style," a worldwide phenomenon and the most-watched video on YouTube. Number two went to "The Sun and the Moon," the hottest drama of the first half of 2012, followed by "Fashion King," "Dream High 2," and "Diablo 3."
In the music genre, the top 10 Google Trend search terms were "Psy Gangnam Style," "Big Bang Blue," "Beast I Knew It," "Tiara Lovey Dovey," "Hyuna Trouble Maker," "Shinee Sherlock," “Lee Hi Mercy," "Big Bang Love Dust," "IU You and I," and "Ye-eun Hello to Myself" in the above order.
In the middle of December, Google released the "2012 Zeitgeist" (www.google.com/zeitgeist) and summarized the search trends of 50 countries in various categories, such as culture, sports, music, politics, and news.
